Cocteau's Wedding on the Eiffel Tower at Villanova.
Iron Age Theatre produced the classic surreal play with a cinematic flairenhancing the production with music and a set made of projections whichcommented on the play. The film world of 1940s America served as a filterthrough which Cocteau's work was interpreted for today.
"Randy Wise of Rosemont's Iron Age Theatre Group conceived and directedthis production of Cocteau's 1921 surrealist venture into the absurd. Wisechanged the play to allow the wedding party to be composed of Americantourists. Since the original music was lost, Wise imaginatively mixed DukeEllington themes with a potpourri of spirituals, national anthems and rockto give a merry life to his Parisian setting."
"Special kudos to the visual design by Iron Age Theatre's John Doyle.Obviously much research and effort went into collecting the slides of famousmovie stars and scenes of Paris from the 1920s, '30s and '40s. The resultwas just the right mood for this production-a hip feeling of jaded bohemia."

Suburban and Wayne Times
From the opening scene to the finale, the play entertained with its uproarious, albeit zany, nature. Written by Jean Cocteau, the play offered the chance for the acting to step to the forefront because of its odd, yet slapstick, humor that called for creativity.
Such a loosely based play demanded superb acting in order to survive, and the players most emphatically delivered. The highly diversified characters allowed for creative acting to thrive.
While the actors excelled all around, the most noteworthy and entertaining actor was Kenneth Luthy, who played the role of the Ostrich. His endearing performance bordered on magnificent, playing the part with aplomb and casting a spell of laughter upon an unknowing audience.
Overall, though, "Wedding on the Eiffel Tower" bordered on excellent and allowed theatergoers a good time. The creativity and ingenuity of a spirited production team shone brightly and such qualities allowed for an entertaining play.
